Police uncover baby factory in Asaba

MEN of the Delta State police command have smashed a baby factory at the outskirts of Asaba, arresting a 40-year-old woman who runs the factory.

Conducting newsmen around the sealed factory yesterday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Celestina Kalu said, “Today,  (4/4/14) at about 1030 hours, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO ‘B’ Division Asaba received information that a habitual human trafficker, one Chinelo Ezeugo, female, aged about 40 years at Oko market area Asaba recruits unknown pregnant  women and delivers them of their babies for sale.

“Operatives of the Division were mobilized and they swung into action and on reaching the scene, five pregnant women from different parts of the country and four children namely Ibrahim Usman, 5 years; Usman Mohammed 2 years ; Chidera Okechkwu 5 years and Abigal Ezeugo 1 year were rescued. The human dealer was also arrested”.

The PPRO also paraded seven suspected cultists  arrested in Sapele.

Meantime, the PPRO also confirmed that the suspected kidnappers of Chief E.K. Clark’s son have demanded for a N60m ransom.

She confirmed the demand to reporters in Asaba yesterday saying that an arrest has been already in connection with the kidnap while dragnet had been spread to rescue him.
