The NUJ chairman said winners would be presented with cash prizes at the end of the event, which is aimed at promoting tennis in relation to other sports, particularly soccer.
He added that the event was also to popularise the sport among the youths in view of its economic viability and also to utilise the impressive facilities at the resort.
Ikeogwu said there would be an exhibition match involving veterans at the championship, adding that the youth would be mobilised to cultivate and engender their interest in the game.
According to him, the choice of tennis was on account of two factors that is its inherent viability and the necessity to popularise it among the Deltans.
